Hate mail is awesome.From those that would send you mail ‘calling you names’ to others who start with being your critics and end up calling you names, they are all a awesome & incredible bunch. Being a hate mailer is no easy task,you have to be dedicated to the cause, it also requires a lot of patience and an overwhelming sense of self-righteousness. Not only that every hate mail is unique and so without wasting more time I am going to share some of the hate mails do all the talking.

PS: Did not post a few because they were extremely disturbing, the ones posted here are fairly disgusting too but nothing comparative to the vitriol in others. None of these are funny, but they do highlight the culture of “shame and silence” and the rampant mindset that, a woman regardless of her sufferings should never be vocal about the plethora of psychological,verbal,physical and sexual abuse hurled her way. The only thing she should do is let her existence be shoved under the rug.

after 200 years, Pakistan might see different culture, different ppl, different nation. Ethics should be a must subject in schools. Civilized, open minded, educated ppl we need. Currently society is filled with the emotional, narrow minded, illiterate, ignorant, abusive people who are proud of their thinking and they do not like healthy change.

Sana, you are doing an awesome job raising awareness about issues in Pakistan which very few people here have the courage to do.
Rape, abuse, domestic violence are very big issues here and it is very shameful to know they are happening in large numbers.
These comments you shared are just a culmination of the sick, arrogant mentality that we Pakistanis have become accustomed to.
Keep up the great work you are doing and don’t feel bogged down by these comments. Jazakallah!

I want to share my personal experience, during my law practice i came to know that Hindus marriages are not registered, on this i launched a campaign. I received many threats of alleging anti-Islamic, anti-state, dire consequences etc. this kind of people as referred in Hate mails are there with very tiny nos. I believe 98 per cent of Pakistani people are liberal, believe in humanity & nothing to do with bigotry.

Sana, not only Pakistan but all of South Asia, needs more women like you. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!! You rock. While it may be easy/difficult for people to write hate mail, it is more difficult to write the pieces you do. I know, I try to write them too.
People like you make the difference to your societies.
Sana you have just mentioned last years stats and show us a tip of an ice berg. If we look at the history of such cases in all its diversity, then we might question whether we are living in an Islamic country or barbaric country.
In a population of 170 million we are reporting only few thousand cases of rape and murder! It is gross under-estimation and reporting by HRCP. And I don’t blame them they have to rely on reported cases only.
You are right we cannot expect more in a culture of shame and silence.
As you mention that it need a dedication to a (distorted) cause and self righteousness to be a hate mailer/monger, but it also require moral courage and sense of social justice to speak up against such crimes and in-justice.

The first time in my life I heard of gang rape a few months ago was in a remote Pakistan village where the tribal judge/chief ordered mothers or wives or girls to be gang raped in public as a means of revenge. Nowhere else in the world does that sort of justice exist.
Islam was sent to stop these barbaric customs.
